Helicopter Noise Analysis for UCSF Mission Bay Hospital Site (Prepared by HMMH)

The UCSF Hospital Replacement Project concerns the future of UCSF Medical Center inpatient facilities, which must be largely replaced to meet the growing demand for specialized care and upcoming deadlines for state-mandated seismic safety standards. UCSF is engaged in a comprehensive planning process to determine how to best address this need. The project would be carried out in phases over the next 15 years.
A UCSF committee exploring options to replace the hospital—the Clinical and Research Planning Subcommittee—has issued recommendations which call for a combination of new buildings, renovated facilities, and expanded facilities at the UCSF Mission Bay, Parnassus, and Mount Zion campuses. The project will entail a two-track approach for UCSF Medical Center's long-term facilities plan that includes pursuing construction of a new childrens, womens, and cancer hospital at Mission Bay and making necessary seismic repairs at Mount Zion. The long-term vision remains to have two major inpatient facilities at Parnassus and Mission Bay, with Mount Zion serving primarily as an outpatient center.
UCSF has acquired 14.5 acres south of the Mission Bay campus for the future development of a new hospital and clinics to integrate with the basic and clinical research already underway at the Mission Bay campus. This will be the site of UCSF Children’s Hospital, with plans to add cancer services and women’s health as part of an integrated hospital at Mission Bay.
From the beginning, the hospital planning process has involved members from the community, including the Community Advisory Group (CAG). For further information, please see the following links, or contact Barbara Bagot-López:
